About TYD Foundation
TYD Foundation is a non-profit organization that is committed to providing children with opportunities to develop their creative thinking, reading, writing, and public speaking skills. Our award-winning program combines the art of poetry with literacy education to create a unique learning experience for students.
The Role of a Teaching Artist
As a TYD Foundation Teaching Artist, you will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging lesson plans and activities that align with the objectives of our program. You will work directly with K-12 students, helping them explore poetic techniques such as rhyme, rhythm, simile, alliteration, and metaphor.
Educational and General Requirements
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
Be at least 21 years of age
Have at least two years of college education in education or theater, or have experience teaching K-12 students
Possess a strong understanding of poetic techniques
Have excellent oral and written communication skills
Be proficient in using computers and various technology platforms (e.g., accessing email, using virtual platforms, and presentation software like PowerPoint or Google Slides)
Be able to pass a background check or drug test at any time
Have reliable transportation and liability insurance for carrying out your duties
Special consideration will be given to teachers, teacher aides, retired teachers, graduate students, and bilingual applicants.
