What is the 2019 Voice2Youth™ Poetry Slam?

  • Citywide annual youth poetry slam involving 3rd – 12th graders.
  • Strengthens critical skills for academic and personal success.
  • Participants receive awards and cash prizes.
  • Aim is to help build a strong literacy foundation in kids early on: reading, writing, and public speaking.
  • Purpose: To give university campus exposure and voice to youth from under-served communities.
  • This year‘s theme is News, Weather, and Sports

This event is sponsored in part by the Arts Council of Fort Worth, the Texas Commission on the Arts, and several departments at the Texas Christian University including the Department of Strategic Communication at the Bob Schieffer College of Communication, the Comparative Race and Ethnic Studies, and the John V. Roach Honors College.
